You will finally find Success in Network Marketing when you embrace diversity and sponsor people you don’t actually ‘like’ into your Network Marketing team.

Now, I’m not suggesting you go out and recruit a bunch of jerks. You know, people with poor attitudes who wouldn’t make a good Network Marketer. I mean, above all we are looking for people with PMA – “Positive Mental Attitude”.

embrace diversityWhat I mean to say is – you will have success in Network Marketing when you sponsor and help build teams of people that are not at all like YOU.  You see, when you ‘like’ someone, all that really means is that you see something in them that reminds you of yourself! You ‘like’ them because you are ALIKE. And if all you have on your team are people like YOU, you are missing a key aspect of what makes everything successful – diversity!

Our goal over time should be to have a large and diverse Network Marketing team. People of every demographic imaginable who are out and about connective with people who they do ‘like’. That way you are reaching people that you would probably never connect with otherwise.

Makes sense, right?

Another reason its crucial that you recruit people who are different from you, is so that when you do bring new prospects into a room of your team they do find people they can identify with.

Let me give you an uncomfortable example of the opposite scenario. You are a WAHM – a work at home Mom of young children who has built a thriving business and in fact are very successful in your company – with your team of Moms. You connect with a male real estate professional who is very interested in your opportunity. This is an individual of influence and charm – and you are very excited about his potential. He attends a local event and finds a room full of high energy women … and his perception of everything changes.

I don’t mean to offend anyone by my example.
I could have said… you are a male real estate professional who has built a strong team of men like yourself. Your high energy and very influential female friend shows an interest in your opportunity so you bring her to an event. She attends and finds herself in a room full of men… and her perception of everything changes.

Perception is everything.
You see, it doesn’t matter how you frame it – the outcome is the same.
And its not just a male/female thing. Its most certainly an age, race, profession and culture thing. In all ways you want DIVERSITY!

How Do You Sponsor People Who Are Not ‘LIKE’ You So That You Can Be a Success In Network Marketing?

This takes a bit of practice, and can be a fun exercise if you are open to really growing in your ability to be open and accepting of people who are indeed different from you. The first step is to recognize when you aren’t paying attention to someone because you don’t ‘like’ them.  You see, this can be very subtle – but with practice you will notice when you are gravitating toward people like yourself. Instead, look for the people you would normally never talk to. Open your eyes and see the person of the opposite age group and clearly different from you. Look for them. You will have to train yourself to do this- I promise! Make it a common practice to connect with them.
Even more powerful is when you make yourself get over the uncomfortable feeling and talk with someone you really don’t like! Again, I’m not talking about connecting with jerks, or people of a moral standing or a character you would not want to associate with- I just mean people you would normally avoid because they for some odd reason rub you the wrong way.
You know the type of people I mean. You can picture one right NOW. You would never choose to strike up a conversation with them … but I want you to stretch and do that – NOW.

I promise you that if you will do this regularly, your life will be enriched in ways I cannot truly express. Diversity is a beautiful thing!
And you WILL ultimately sponsor people who are not at all like you!

Ways to Embrace Diversity In your Network Marketing Team

The next and obvious step to embracing diversity is to have the same practice within your team. Your team will bring prospects and new team members who you do not obviously ‘click’ with right away. Again, you don’t necessarily ‘like’ them, because you are not ‘alike’. I want you to get really excited when you identify this phenomenon! And I want you to make a concerted effort to really get to know them and support them in their business… because they are going to bring a whole room of DIFFERENT people in!

When you are running team calls, or running events – make sure there is diversity every single time! Even if it means putting someone brand new on the stage! If you don’t have many moms on your team, put her up there! If your team is a bunch of women, get that guy in front of the room! PERCEPTION is everything. you want your team to think of who else they know who are ‘like that guy’ who should have been invited.
